WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

"One of the greatest wines of the vintage is, not surprisingly, from proprietor Denis Durantou. A remarkable effort in every sense, the 2006 l'Eglise Clinet is not far off the quality of the prodigious 2005. Its inky/ruby/purple color is accompanied by a powerful nose of mocha, caramelized red and black fruits, smoke, graphite, and truffle. Massive and rich with full-bodied power, excellent focus and definition, and moderately high tannin, this is an "outlier" for the vintage (as Malcolm Gladwell would say) with unbelievable length and richness. Unfortunately, patience will be essential as it needs a minimum of 5-6 years of cellaring. It will age effortlessly for three decades. Drink 2014-2044."

- Robert Parker (100 points)

Château L'Eglise-Clinet, located in the heart of Pomerol, is a jewel in the crown of Bordeaux's right bank. The estate's origins date back to the late 1800s when it was part of other châteaux holdings, making it one of the most historic properties in the region. Over the decades, Château L'Eglise-Clinet has been synonymous with the heights of winemaking, a status achieved through the dedication and passion of the Durantou family, who have been at the helm since the 1950s. Scores from critics are typically among the highest in the region. The estate cultivates just over four hectares of vines planted on the famed Pomerol plateau, where the unique combination of gravel and clay soils imparts a remarkable complexity and intensity to the grapes. Merlot makes up about 85% of the plots with the remaining parcels dedicated to Cabernet Franc. The vineyards boast some of the oldest vines in Pomerol. Recognised for producing wines of profound depth, elegance, and longevity, Château L'Eglise-Clinet is a testament to the exceptional terroir of Pomerol and the meticulous care and expertise applied both in the vineyard and the winery.

Located on Bordeaux's right bank, Pomerol is home to some of the rarest soils of the region, coveted blue clay. Chateau Petrus, one of the most expensive wines in the world lays claim to the majority of this coveted soil, many other estates possess the soil at varying depths. The wines of Pomerol need time in your cellar to evolve to their fullest potential.
