WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Tartufaia is Giulia’s youngest-drinking Barolo, meaning it is ready to be enjoyed now, but you might also tuck a few bottles away to savor over the next few years. While it is open and expressive, with a great nose recalling red berries and rain on hot asphalt, it still benefits greatly from aeration, so don’t hesitate to pull the cork a few hours in advance. There is a bit of grip, as you might expect from a young Barolo, but also a purity of fruit that makes it hard to resist.

According to Giovanni, Giulia Negri's owner, making Barolo is a work of art that belong to a future that needs to be written. His vineyards are among the highest elevation in all of Barolo.

When these wines arrive in our locations its always with a flutter of excitement for us and our customers. Their prescence on our shelves is usually short lived considering the wines amazing value and quality.

Piedmont translates literally to "Foot of the Mountains" in this case, the Alps. The region has many parallels to Burgundy, vineyards handed down through generation, increasing demand paired with increasing price. The top grape of the region is Nebbiolo, labelled regionally as Barolo, Barbaresco or Langhe Nebbiolo. The wines that require long term aging reward time in the cellar, while you are waiting for them to mature, enjoy regional wines of Barbera or Dolcetto.
