With four centuries of winemaking behind them, the Tedeschi family has found a way to be innovative while still honouring winemaking tradition in the Veneto.
Valpolicella is a region in northern Italy, most famous for Amarone. This bottling, a Valpolicella Superiore is wine appropriate for enjoying any night of the week. It’s a traditional blend for wines of the region, predominantly: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella (plus a few others). Valpolicella Superiore, like this one, must be finished in oak barrels for one year. The Tedeschi’s chose Slavonian oak, which imparts subtle oak flavours to the wine.
It has a particular savoury note (think thyme), that lends beautifully to food. It also delivers notes of blackberry, currant, cigar box and spice with supple tannins. Enjoy with roast chicken and potatoes.
