Belpoggio is the newest member of the Market Wines Family and we are thrilled to have them aboard. The estate of about 10 hectares, half of which are dedicated to Sangiovese and the other part to olive groves. Enrico Martellozzo’s Brunello di Montalcino comes from a five-hectare vineyard located a stone’s throw away from the sun-drenched abbey at Castelnuovo dell’Abate. In line with the characteristics of this subzone that include darker more structured wines, Belpoggio’s rendition tend to be deeply laden with ripe fruit, clove and baking spice, and show well even when young.
Their Rosso is a great value with a good structure, it’s lively and refined. Pleasantly fruity, it displays lively hints of raspberry and spicy notes of aromatic herbs. A soft and silky wine with a fresh and balsamic note that gives it an extraordinary drinkability.
“Mid ruby. Cherry with hints of iron. Succulent and with a certain litheness on the palate in spite of the big load of powdery tannins.” –Jancis Robinson
