Are you an ABC Wine Drinker? Meaning you like Anything But Chardonnay. While we love Chardonnay and think that there is a Chardonnay out there for every person, we understand that might just not be you- yet. Or you might love Chardonnay as well, and you want to branch out and explore other similar grapes! This 6 pack consists of fuller bodied white wines that are excellent alternatives to Chardonnay.
Château La Negly 2021 ‘La Brise Marine’ – Languedoc, France $31.95
This wine is as beautiful as the place it comes from. La Clape is a small Mediterranean appellation in France. This blend of Bourboulenc and Roussane is named after the sea breeze here. This sea breeze keeps the vines cool so that although this is a full bodied wine, there is a lingering freshness that is sure to delight! In the glass you’ll find rich aromas of white peach, nectarine, orange blossom and salted almonds. Enjoy with ricotta gnocchi.
Bodegas Adria 2021 Godello- Bierzo, Spain $28.95
Pronounced “go-day-yo” this Spanish white variety is thirst quenching! Bodegas Adria grows these grapes organically from 25 year old vines and is made with very little intervention. Pale yellow with greenish hues in the glass. Notes of yellow apples and lemon. All of those fresh notes are balanced with a soft, smooth texture and a long floral finish. If you’re pairing this wine, we recommend serving it with mild cheeses.
Manzone 2018 Rossese Bianco. Piemonte, Italy $29.95
Rossese Bianco grapes were saved from extinction from the Manzone family in the late 1970’s when they planted a small vineyard of these grapes. This wine sees some skin contact giving it more texture than your typical white wine. This is a medium plus bodied white wine with high acid, making it very food friendly. Notes of almonds, apricots, wet stone and hints of green tobacco. Pair this wine with olives, shrimp, crab salad or grilled veggies.
Amalia NV Macabeo, Aragon, Spain $16.95
Founded in 1945 it is one of the longest standing small wineries in the area. This Macabeo boasts intense aromas of green apple and pineapple along with herbaceous notes like tarragon and lemon verbena. Dry, fresh and medium-bodied with well integrated acidity. Pairs well with Southeast Asian cuisine such as coconut curries and vermicelli bowls.
Nicosia 2021 Fonda Filara Insolia- Sicily, Italy $24.95
This Sicilian wine is perfect for those who are searching for a wine with some creaminess and minerality but don’t want Chardonnay. Notes of grapefruit-esque zestiness and tropical fruit contrasted with a hint of bitter orange and a pleasant nuttiness. Time on lees gives this white an elegant texture. Open this bottle up with mildly spiced fish tacos.
Domaine Lucas-Salmon 2020 ‘Terriors’ Muscadet
Muscadet is in the Loire Valley, the grape in this dry, mineral wine is Melon B. It is pale lemon in the glass and quite aromatic. Notes of lemon zest, yellow apple and orange pith jump out right away. These fruity notes are balanced with chalky and nutty aromas. The body is creamy while still being fresh. This wine might have the most acidity out of the entire pack. We recommend eating this with something rich like butter poached seafood with a cream sauce.
