Around The World (Red Wine Pack)
No travel plans in your near future? No worries! Let us take you on a trip around the world with this adventurous red wine pack featuring six different wines from six different countries.
Jeff Carrel 2019 La Bette – Languedoc-Roussillon, France $25.95
Escape to the Mediterranean with this little gem of a wine! Jeff Carrel brings us another friendly wine that is just waiting to be quaffed: predominantly Syrah blended with Carignan and Grenache, it shows plumy notes of black currant while maintaining great structure. It really is a go to on many occasions!
Tedeschi 2019 Corasco – Veneto, Italy $30.95
Corasco is a stunning wine made from Corvina, Raboso and Refosco grown in Aquileia. It is made in a traditional Veronese manner of air drying the grapes just like they do for Amarone. The loss of water in the grape enriches the sugar content leading to a richer, more powerful wine with soft and silky tannins. This is a long-time staff favourite for good reason; it delivers delicate dried fruit aromas with notes of spice, currants and black cherries finished off with a hint of tobacco from the subtle Slavonian oak. This perfectly balanced bottle is ideal for everything from sipping after work to a charcuterie plate or your favourite Italian dish.
Steele 2020 Pinot Noir – Lake County, California $31.95
A staple of Lake County for the last nearly 30 years, Steele Winery carries on the legacy of its founder Jed Steele with a focus on small allotments of a wide range of wine varietals. Silky and smooth describe this Californian Pinot Noir. Vines from Carneros benefit from cool pacific winds and contribute to the fresh acidity. This medium bodied wine has aromas of cherries and raspberries balanced with an elegant earthy flavour.
Finca Mónica 2019 Crianza – Rioja, Spain $23.95
This wine is produced by The Burgo Viejo winery, which is run by six families of grape growers. The passionate and well-coordinated team has won global recognition for their award-winning wines, based on international and local winemaking experience. The fruit for this wine comes from vines that are more than 30 years old and located at the foot of the Yerga Mountain in Alfaro, an area that offers an extraordinary diversity of soils and microclimates. On the nose you’ll find intense aromas of blackberries with touches of wild herbs, hints of toasted coconut and liquorice, all of these notes translate to the palate, which is richly textured with a long finish.
Vinha Do Bispado Red – Douro, Portugal $19.95
This is a selection of Tinta Roriz (30%), Touriga Franca (30%) and Touriga Nacional (40%), all grown on estate farms, to create a balanced wine with the firm tannins of Tinta Roriz, the soft tannins of Touriga Franca, and the aromas of black fruits and berries, with strong fresh floral notes of Touriga Nacional. 40% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for eight months, while the other 60% is aged in stainless steel. Medium in colour, aromatic bright wild blackberry and fig aromas dominate the nose, and balanced with elegant ripe black fruits on the palate. This wine pairs well with meats, cheeses and most Mediterranean inspired cuisine.
Los Bocheros 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon – Mendoza, Argentina $20.95
From winemakers Hector Durigutti and Guillermo Garcia Lamadrid, Los Bocheros is located in Luján de Cuyo and produces wine from sustainably farmed, organic vineyards. An easily approachable, versatile Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza in Argentina. Ripe black currant and dark red berry fruit backed by soft, leathery tannins and hints of spice, tobacco leaf, and earth. Enjoy this with a steak or roast dinner.
