This estate was established by the Marengo family in 1899. Today, Marco and Eugenia (Jenny) Marengo hold some of the finest, south-facing, mid-slope vineyards in Brunate. They own just 6 ha in total, and still don’t have a website. So while this estate is perhaps a bit under the radar with some of the more famous houses garnering much of the press and acclaim – those who have the distinct pleasure to know the wines from Marengo, know.
The 2019’s enjoyed a pretty classic growing season, bouts of cooler weather were counterbalanced by perfectly warm days and cool nights through September. The resulting wines, at least for those with older vines and top sites, enjoyed ripe tannins and sugars. The best wines boast tremendous balance, drinking quite well in their youth.
As the name suggests, this wine expresses elegance and a distinctive violet aroma. Altitudes of this site and its cooler temperatures lead to this wines delicacy, freshness and loads of character.
