The Fiuza family’s wine making tradition dates back to the early 20th century. In 1985, Fiuza and Australian winemaker Peter Bright joined forces to create the winery of their namesake. They were some of the first to plant French varietals in Portugal. This is a blend of Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet. Expect notes of spice, mint bright cherries and raspberries that are sure to warm you up on a chilly night. The name Silent Oak refers to the Portuguese Cork trees.
Relmu 2021 Merlot – Central Valley, Chile $16.95
This Merlot is rich, smooth and intense with flavours of blackberry, blueberry and cassis. A touch of chocolate and mint adds to its medium-bodied palate. Relmu is a word borrowed from the Mapuche, the first people of modern day Chile – it means rainbow. Try it with pasta bolognese, braised meats or on its own.
Château Du Cèdre 2020 ‘Marcel’ Malbec – Cahors, France $20.95
The motto at Chateau du Cedre is, “move forward, experience new ways”. Since most of us are well-acquainted with Argentinian Malbec, this French Malbec is a great way to try something new! This engaging little red wine has a vibrant spine of acidity, bright notes of damson plum, blackberry and a long brambly finish.
Villa Des Anges 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon – Languedoc-Roussillon, France $20.95
This Cabernet Sauvignon is from Jeff Carrel in the Languedoc. It is made entirely from Cabernet, and shows a slightly lighter style, with a medium body. It has lots of earth notes, dark chocolate, and ripe dark fruit, black currant and bramble. This is a fantastic wine to enjoy during barbeque season (which is every season) with grilled meats, or on its own.
