In July of 2014, Joseph Voillot passed away in the same house where he was raised, just across from Volnay's historic church from the 13th century. Joseph was a true vigneron, the fourth generation of his family to manage the estate, representing the old-fashioned style of Burgundian growers. On the day of his funeral, the town of Volnay was overflowing with people paying their respects. Like Joseph, his son-in-law Jean-Pierre was immersed in Burgundian culture from a young age. His father was in charge of grower relations and wine selection for the family négociant business, Bouchard Père et Fils, making it a natural choice for Jean-Pierre to study enology. After earning his degree, he worked as a wine broker in Beaune for some time, where he fell in love with one of Joseph Voillot's three daughters. This marriage led him to work alongside Joseph for
