In 2009, after gaining experience in both Burgundy and the Rhône, Pierre Jean Villa took a leap of faith and went out on his own, creating Domaine Pierre Jean Villa, from scratch, in the Northern Rhône Valley.
The floral aromas in this 100% Viognier evoke the scents of spring – fresh flowers and fruits, hence its name, ‘Primavera’ is Spanish for ‘Spring’. Coming from vines of approximately 25 years old, the fruit is direct pressed and vinified in foudres before spending 15 months in barrel. As its name suggests, you’ll find notes of spring flowers, peaches and nectarines. It’s rich and serious, but has an energetic lift and bracing acidity. Pair this with roasted chicken or a goat cheese salad.
