WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

This is a very elegant Barolo, reminiscent to 1er Burgundy at a fraction of the cost. You can expect ample cherry and ripe raspberry notes followed by earthy aromas like truffle. Well integrated tannins and a long finish characterize this wine. This wine will make an excellent gift since it can be enjoyed now with little to no decanting, but it can also age for another few years.

To provide for his family, Mario Pelassa would bicycle 60 km to Torino and 60km back to try to sell wine in the city.

Since the 2000s, Pelassa Winery has been taken over by Mario's sons, Davide and Daniele.

Piedmont translates literally to "Foot of the Mountains" in this case, the Alps. The region has many parallels to Burgundy, vineyards handed down through generation, increasing demand paired with increasing price. The top grape of the region is Nebbiolo, labelled regionally as Barolo, Barbaresco or Langhe Nebbiolo. The wines that require long term aging reward time in the cellar, while you are waiting for them to mature, enjoy regional wines of Barbera or Dolcetto.
