WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

This Rioja is a delicious blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Viura. The Carbonic Maceration process gives it a refreshing, juicy red flavor with hints of field strawberry, overripe raspberry, and a touch of baking spice.

Try it with Spanish Ham Croquettes.

The story of Ortega Ezquerro begins with Quintin Ortega, who planted the family's first vines back in the year 1896. At that time he was a barrel maker, producing barrels to store and ship wine. He decided to take it one step further and plant vines. Later building a winery located in Tudelilla, a village in the heart of the Rioja Designation of Origin area (DO Ca Rioja), in the part known as Rioja Baja, 37 km north-east of the regional capital, Logrono, at an altitude of 545m above sea level.

The land is worked traditionally, pruning in old fashioned goblet style. The wines are made being thoughtful to the earth from start to finish.

Rioja, located inland from the Cantabrian Mountains in the Ebro River Valley, is the most well-known region in Spain. The majority of the grapes grown here, over 90%, are Tempranillo for red wines and predominantly Viura for white wines. It is one of just two regions in Spain to hold the DOCa designation, the highest in the country.

Typically, Rioja wines are aged in barrels and then subsequently aged in the bottle before being released. Known for their exceptional quality and potential for long-term aging, they also offer great value for the price.
