WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Les Petits Poisots is a small lieu-dit spanning just 1.09 hectares, named after a natural water spring that gives the site its characteristically damp soils. The combination of clay-rich ground and 40-year-old vines brings a touch more structure to this Volnay, without sacrificing elegance. Jean Guiton is known for his restrained use of oak—never more than 20% new French oak—allowing the purity of the vineyard to shine through. The 2023 vintage is beautifully expressive and slightly moody, opening with bright red cherry and wild raspberry, followed by delicate peony aromas that are classic Volnay. The palate is perfumed and quietly powerful, balancing finesse and restraint with subtle mineral undertones that linger on the finish.

Domaine Jean Guiton is a true family estate, founded by Jean Guiton in the 1970s and now led by his son Guillaume. Their philosophy is rooted in hands-on vineyard work and a traditional approach in the cellar, allowing each wine to develop naturally without excessive intervention. Guillaume has continued to refine the style while staying true to his father’s vision, focusing on purity, balance, and authenticity. What we love most is their ability to craft honest, expressive Burgundy that overdelivers, offering both charm and structure.

The Côte de Beaune is one of Burgundy’s most celebrated areas, known for producing wines defined by elegance and finesse rather than power. Limestone-rich soils and a cool climate create wines with freshness, vibrant fruit, and a subtle mineral backbone. This part of Burgundy is prized for producing beautifully balanced Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that pair effortlessly with food. It’s a region where tradition runs deep, and even lesser-known village sites can deliver remarkable complexity and character.
