WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

The Mont de Milieu vines are located on a hillside between Chablis and Fleys, on steep hills facing south. It is a Kimmeridgian soil with clay and limestone , with vines planted in 1980.

This is the Grossots’ most intense cru, combining remarkable structure, power and purity. The Mont de Milieu tastes of lemon cream, citrus and minerals, with stunning focus and persistence. It needs three to five years of bottle age to show all of its complexity and nuance and will benefit from extended cellar-time.

With 18 ha of holdings in some of the most desirable sites on the slopes along the Serein, the Grossot family has developed an exceptional reputation over their three generation tenure. Their production is split into roughly a third of holdings in premier crus, notably Vaucoupin and Fourneux and two thirds of Chablis AOC. Corrine and Jean-Pierre were joined by their daughter Eve in 2010, she championed the transition to organic practices, they were certified in 2010. The wines are also vegan friendly.

Chablis is detached from the greater part of Burgundy, it is actually closer to Champagne. The region is famous for its Jurassic Kimmeridgean soils that combined with the cool climate present a electric brightness to Chardonnay grown in in the region.
