The Neus estate is synonymous with world-class Pinot Noir. In fact, in 1881, founder Josef Neus commenced the arduous process of massal selection – an arduous process that essentially allowed him to create his own unique clone of Pinot Noir! The clone was so successful that it was adopted by many local grapegrowers and is still used today. Muschelkalk is the German name for ‘shell-bearing limestone’ and these Pinot Noir vines thrive in this soil. Soft and silky with prickly notes of cranberry, bing cherry and alpine strawberry with a whisper of tobacco and allspice that carry to a lengthy finale. This is the epitome of how Neus German Pinot Noir can be!
