WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:
Les Petits Poisots is a small lieu-dit spanning just 1.09 hectares, named after a natural water spring that gives the site its characteristically damp soils. The combination of clay-rich ground and 40-year-old vines brings a touch more structure to this Volnay, without sacrificing elegance. Jean Guiton is known for his restrained use of oak—never more than 20% new French oak—allowing the purity of the vineyard to shine through. The 2023 vintage is beautifully expressive and slightly moody, opening with bright red cherry and wild raspberry, followed by delicate peony aromas that are classic Volnay. The palate is perfumed and quietly powerful, balancing finesse and restraint with subtle mineral undertones that linger on the finish.
