WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Arroyo del Tortolas is a single vineyard offering from Bernabeleva. Hailing from 70 year old vines at a very high elevation, this Grenache offering will rival some of your favourite Chateauneuf du Pape wines. In the glass this shows juicy berries and deep ripe flavours balanced with freshness. The tannins are fine and quite round in this incredibly balanced wine.

Bernabeleva, literally, means the path of the bear, where the bear lives, or next to the bear.

The bear logo represents the goddess of hunt, to whom, in ancient times, sacred forests were dedicated.

The estate manually works 35 hectares of old vine Garnacha and Albillo.

The sprawling metropolis and imposing Sierra de Guadarrama mountains to the north confine vineyards to the southeastern and southwestern corners of the autonomous community of Madrid. The Vinos de Madrid designation covers three demarcated wine sub-regions, each with distinguishing characteristics.

Winemaking here dates back to at least the 8th Century, and may well have been introduced by the Romans, or even the Carthaginians before them.
