WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Hartenberg is a family-owned wine estate in Stellenbosch. The grapes for this Chardonnay were handpicked in the early morning of each of the 4 days of picking so as to capture the subtle primary flavours that the variety offers. Every batch from each of the morning picks, as well as those of the individual parcels, were kept separate in the cellar so as to aid quality selection when it came to assembling the final blend. On the bouquet the wine shows alluring aromas of white pear, elderflower and subtle hints of toasted vanilla and white flowers. The palate is fresh yet creamy with the ripe pear and citrus acidity following through. Well-integrated oak allows for a toasty and lingering finish.

Hartenbers is a family owned estate in Stellenbosch South Africa. Their estate vineyards are home to 9 different soil types and varying microclimates that contribute to the unique character of the wines.

Perhaps the most famous wine region in South Africa. The town of Stellenbosch is also the second oldest in the Country, rich with history and home to the best known wines estates.

The climate is relatively hot and dry with maritime influences coming off of false bay. Gale force winds called the "Cape Dr" help and hinder the vineyards by assisting with airflow and increasing resistance to mildew. However the wind can be so strong that it can cause significant damage to vineyards as well.
