WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

"The 2010 Figeac has a deep hue. The nose is quite introverted at first, with dark berry fruit, incense, touches of fig and mulberry. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, gorgeous pure fruit, mulberry and dark plum, gentle considering the vintage. This 2010 has softened in the last couple of years, gaining depth towards the finish. Very persistent - this is just beginning to show what it is capable of. Tasted at the vertical in Berlin."

Château Figeac was historically an extremely large estate with land in Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. Parts of Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau La Conseillante were once part of Chateau-Figeac. The Chateau on the property was built in the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1892, the estate became the property of the Manoncourt family. In 1947, Thierry Manoncourt took over the estate. Under his management Chateau Figeac became regarded as one of the top wines on the right bank. He travelled to North America annually with other Chateau owners promoting the wine. Thierry died in 2010. His widow and four daughters are still involved with the winery. In 2022, Chateau Figeac was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe “A”, the highest ranking in Saint-Emilion.

The idyllic town of St Emilion on Bordeaux's right bank is a top tourist destination. The vineyards surrounding the picturesque town produce some of the finest merlot based wines in all of France. The clay soils dominant on the right bank moderate temperatures to warm up, harnessing the ripening process and building complexity in the grapes.
