WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Known for having more robust character in their wines, this juleinas is beautifully balanced between power and elegance. Aromas of red cherries, blackberries and spicy notes of pepper mingle with delicate notes of violets. This medium to full-bodied wine is juicy, vibrant and has well integrated tannins with a spicy finish. Pair with hearty stews or dishes with roasted vegetables and lentils.

The property was a rich history and originally stood as a hunting lodge in the heart of Chenas back in 1630. It was purchased in the Perrachon family in 1973 and they fixed up the estate and continued to tend the vineyards, something they have done in Beaujolais since 1820. Today the estate extends for 20 ha, including holdings in Chénas, Moulin à Vent, Juliénas and Saint-Amour. Patriarch, Pierre-Yves, said “being a winegrowing is not just working the land and producing fruit, but also transmitting emotions”. He has proudly watched his children Charlotte (oenology) and son, Julien (tractorist) come into the family business!

Beaujolais is located at the southern tip of Burgundy. Gamay is the red varietal of the region but there is also a small amount of Chardonnay that is produced here as well. Gamay was once planted through out the entire region of Burgundy but was exiled in 1935 by King Phillip the Bold, exclaiming it was an "evil and disloyal plant." Thanks to Philips dramatics it was discovered that Gamay thrived in the Beaujolais region and the style of Beaujolais Nouveau became quite fashionable. The region bears so much more potential than the Nouveau style. In the 10 cru sites some seriously age worthy wines are crafted. They are a sommeliers secret weapon for pairing and you can get a great bottle for a slight price.
