WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

With the 2022 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Épeneaux securing the prestigious 5 Star rating from Jasper Morris MW it really is a wine of Grand Cru quality in an appellation with no Grand Cru! 5 Stars “An outstanding wine in its category. This accolade will be given very rarely, certainly to less than 10% of wines tasted across the year.”

On the palate this is, as almost always, a much more complete wine than the individual parts. The wine seems to push down deeper while retaining all the class of the very best components. We are approaching the cusp of red and black fruit, the acidity is perfectly harnessed and the tannins are fine grained. Potentially a very fine Clos des Epeneaux. Drink from 2032-2040+.- Jasper Morris MW

Domaine des Epeneaux owes its name to the Clos des Epeneaux, a magnificent parcel of five hectares acquired by Nicolas Marey at the end of the 18th, beginning of the 19th century.

Today, Domaine des Epeneaux constitutes a total surface area of 9 hectares in Epeneaux, Auxey Duresses and Volnay, and is more committed than ever to producing wines that are true expressions of their terroir.

The main growing region of Burgundy spans from Dijon in the north through the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Challonaise all the way through to Macconais. Chablis and Beaujolais too.
The primary varieties here are Chardonnay for white and Pinot Noir for red, you can also find Aligote and Gamay for a little variety.
Burgundy is a treasure chest of tiny vineyards with unique soil compositions and exposures that grant tiny plots the best conditions. The best red and white Burgundy rewards with time in The Cellar.
