WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

‘El Rapolao’ refers to a prized, single vineyard appellation in Bierzo that is farmed by a handful of producers. This 7 hectare plot was planted in the 1970s and sits on red clay and alluvial soils. Composed of 100% Mencia, the grapes are left as whole bunches to ferment, and then 50% of the wine is matured in oak barrels for 8 months. The result is a complex, bold and elegant wine. Dark fruits like blackberry and cassis wrapped up in flavours of coffee and mint.

Vinos Valtuille is a family run winery in Bierzo, Spain founded in 1999 by Dimas Garcia, but the family has a history of winemaking that dates back to 1910 when the first vineyard was purchased. The business is currently run by Dima's children, Marcos and Elena. They focus on quality wines made with estate grown fruit.

Bierzo, located in Castilla Y Lyon, is nestled in a warm bowl surrounded by mountains. The Mencia grape is commonly used for red wines, while the Godello grape is typically used for white wines.
