WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Totally dry with touches of fresh lemon under a racy palate, this Riesling from the Rheinhessen in Germany is a delicious, versatile option for those looking to branch out from other comforting summer white wines. The word 'Kalk' on the label refers to chalky soils the grapes are grown on.

Pair with roasted pork or poultry, or some simple butter poached pickerel and your choice of summer sides; thirst quenched guaranteed!

Originally founded in 1696, today led by Frank Meiser with help from his kids Julius and Charlotte. The winery also has an estate tavern (known as the Poppenschenke) and a guest house that can accommodate up to 7 guests. The tavern features homemade products from their farm, including cheese and charcuterie.

The ancient cellar, hand-carved from rock, adds a unique touch to this holistic agricultural experience. The farm utilizes sustainable practices and has a variety of animals and crops, without the use of herbicides. The land is rich in limestone, red sandstone, and volcanic rock. And if that isn't enough, you can even book a walk with one of their four alpacas, a dream come true since 2019.

Rheinhessen is located across the Rhine River from Rheingau and Pfalz. Thanks to it's generally warm climate, Rheinhessen produces more wine than any other German region.
