WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

The emblematic Grand Cru of the domaine. Their holdings of Clos de la Roche is shared over 3 parcels, at the top of the slope at the lieu-dit « Monts Luisants », a parcel mid-slope in the « Fremières » and at the bottom of the slope and lieu-dit « les Chabiots ». With 50% new oak this cuvee is best held for 10 years.

With just 5 ha of holdings spread over 14 different appellations from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chambolle-Musigny, 10th generation vigneron, Léon, has his hands full. 2022 is the first vintage under the new name, Domaine Amiot Pere & Fils with Léon recently joining his father Pierre full-time. Léon is known for his extensive viticultural education and is almost always found in the vineyards. Sustainability is a key tenet for Léon, his farming ethos is HVE and his winemaking is pretty classic. It encompasses some use of whole bunches varying from 5-30% depending on the wine and vintage, natural fermentation and finished 16-18 months in barrel (30-50% new, again depending on the wine and vintage). The wines are known for being charming, sensual and full of powerful fruit.

The main growing region of Burgundy spans from Dijon in the north through the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Challonaise all the way through to Macconais. Chablis and Beaujolais too.

The primary varieties here are Chardonnay for white and Pinot Noir for red, you can also find Aligote and Gamay for a little variety.

Burgundy is a treasure chest of tiny vineyards with unique soil compositions and exposures that grant tiny plots the best conditions. The best red and white Burgundy rewards with time in The Cellar.
