The old vine Grenache used for this wine, from the famed Ebenezer sub-district, has extraordinary personality, these grapes have an impressive story to tell, and they don’t need much bolstering from oak. The Shiraz on the other hand spends 16 months in second and third use oak barrels (80% French and 20% American).
Blended together, this wine consistently impresses us as it manages a delicate balance of levity and density. The wine pours a deep, vibrant crimson. The nose shows bright red fruits, masses of cherry and a hint of strawberry freshness. Flavours of plum, cherry and cranberry. Soft, supple tannins from the Grenache provide freshness and the Shiraz gives both weight and length.
