WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

Fruit from Corcelette used for this bottling comes from a choice, south-facing, high-elevation site in the cru of Morgon. This wine is dense, dark and silky while still being approachable in youth. This is an excellent Gamay to share with friends who typically gravitate towards fuller bodied reds and are feeling adventurous.

Daniel Bouland is a humble wine maker who is no stranger to working long hour days alone in dedication to his diverse and exceptional terroirs. All his grapes are hand- harvested and vinified with full clusters and natural yeasts in concrete vat with two pump overs per day. The wines are then aged in old foudres in a tiny cellar, Daniel follows them through ??levage with great care and bottles them without filtration. This makes for some long-lived and old-fashioned Gamay, some of the deepest and finest in the whole of Beaujolais. After a humble beginning, Bouland's reputation has catapulted his wines to a cult like status with wine nerds across the globe.

Beaujolais is located at the southern tip of Burgundy. Gamay is the red varietal of the region but there is also a small amount of Chardonnay that is produced here as well. Gamay was once planted through out the entire region of Burgundy but was exiled in 1935 by King Phillip the Bold, exclaiming it was an "evil and disloyal plant." Thanks to Philips dramatics it was discovered that Gamay thrived in the Beaujolais region and the style of Beaujolais Nouveau became quite fashionable. The region bears so much more potential than the Nouveau style. In the 10 cru sites some seriously age worthy wines are crafted. They are a sommeliers secret weapon for pairing and you can get a great bottle for a slight price.
