Under the guidance of Isabel Ferrando, who burst onto the scene in 2003, Domaine Saint Préfert has leapt into the handful of top estates in Châteauneuf du Pape. This is the first vintage of Chateauneuf that combines the single previous offerings of Charles Giraud and Reserve August Favier. The new direction of the winery is to make one wine that is complete and shows the complexity of all the terroir they have. A blend of 75% Grenache and the rest Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and a splash of Syrah. Its deep ruby/plum hue is followed by a more reticent, full-bodied, powerful wine offering serious black fruits as well as notes of crushed stone, roasted herbs, liquorice, and graphite.
