Comte Armand Clos des Epeneaux remains THE benchmark wine of Pommard today. It’s a unique high-walled Clos that has been farmed Biodynamically for over 20 years. From the moment you pass under the gates you can sense that this vineyard is special, we feel very fortunate to represent these wines in Alberta. We’ve worked through 2 brilliant winemakers with Comte Armand, over the last 2 and a half decades , including the celebrated Benjamin Leroux and talented newcomer Paul Zinetti. The wines continue to improve with every year, these are wines of serious power and longevity, and the 2020 is sure to be a legend in the making.

The final blend of this is superb, including both the energy of the young vines and the density of the old. They deliver a lush, spicy fruit with a strong mineral underpinning, a dense texture, firm but supple tannins and an infinitely rewarding finish. The Clos des Epeneaux is produced from a monopole of 5.23ha located at the juncture of Grands Epenots (20%) and Petits Epenots (80%). The clos is divided by regisseur Paul Zinetti into four main subdivisions by age of vine and underlying soils which are farmed and vinified separately. (CC)
