WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

This luscious Rosso comes to us from the Piedmont region in Northern Italy. A delightful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera gives us a ruby red wine with a bouquet of fragrant cherry, red currant and apricot. Full bodied and balanced this wine pairs well with pizza, grilled meats, stews and Italian hors d'oeuvres.

To provide for his family, Mario Pelassa would bicycle 60 km to Torino and 60km back to try to sell wine in the city.

Since the 2000s, Pelassa Winery has been taken over by Mario's sons, Davide and Daniele.

Piedmont translates literally to "Foot of the Mountains" in this case, the Alps. The region has many parallels to Burgundy, vineyards handed down through generation, increasing demand paired with increasing price. The top grape of the region is Nebbiolo, labelled regionally as Barolo, Barbaresco or Langhe Nebbiolo. The wines that require long term aging reward time in the cellar, while you are waiting for them to mature, enjoy regional wines of Barbera or Dolcetto.
