Les Lys 2022 Vouvray Sec – Loire Valley, France $26.95
The Loire Valley is famed for Chenin Blanc production and some of the world’s best come from the Vouvray region. This wine blossoms with notes of acacia, nectarine and apricot. The palate is slightly honeyed, with a hint of refreshing orange and an ever-so-slight whisper of pleasant sweetness.
Famille Laplace Les 3 Petits Cochons Rosé – Aydie, France $24.95
You’ll find in the heart of the South-West of France, the vineyard covers an area of 58 hectares from which they produce around ten different vintages each year. One of our favourites is “Les 3 Petits Cochons” which translates to “The 3 Little Pink Pigs”, this unique rose is made with 100% Tannat! Aromas of roses and elderflower leap from the glass and translate onto the palate beautifully where they’re met with flavours of raspberry, watermelon and grapefruit.
Grayson Cellars 2021 Pinot Noir – California $27.95
Mike O’Connell and his wife Kathy established Grayson Cellars as an answer to the burgeoning prices of California wine. Fruit for the Grayson wines are sourced from vineyards throughout California. By blending these plots and excluding the regional designate, the price stays down! This is a quintessential California Pinot Noir with notes of exotic raspberry and plum with a mix of cherry, violets, and a hint of sandalwood. Flavorful and silky in the mouth with good body, this wine has beautiful texture and a lingering finish with a hint of toasted French oak.
Bernabeleva 2021 Camino De Navaherreros Tinto – Madrid, Spain $26.95
Camino de Navaherreros is a blend of different plots featuring the best from different soils and exposures. Scattered among the plots of vines there are outcrops of juniper, thyme and rosemary that lend a vibrant savoury note to the wine. Full of spicy raspberry and cherry, with a bright rose petal accent on the nose. On the palate, racy red fruit, spice, mineral, and brisk acidity meld together into a beautiful expression of no-frills, old-vine Garnacha.
“The 2021 Camino de Navaherreros feels more serious and complete, going beyond the fruit and showing some stony minerality that is more of a texture and tactile sensation rather than a flavor. This matured in 5,000- and 10,000-liter oak foudres, but there’s no trace of oak.” 91 Points – Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, May 2023
Poggio Petroso 2018 Chianti Classico – Tuscany, Italy $31.95
88% Sangiovese and 12% Canaiolo, this is an elegant wine, which expresses the millenarian history of the terroir. The perfect sun exposure allows a perfect grape ripeness. The hand harvest takes place in October following the perfect maturity of each cru. After a careful selection, the maceration takes place and it lasts for about 25 days. Then follows a period of steel-aging in tanks and a refinement in wood for 12 months. After 8 months of bottle aging, Chianti Classico Poggio Petroso is ready for sale.
Experience 2019 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley, California $39.95
This wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon comes from husband and wife duo Travis and Catherine Vale. The name Experience is a nod to the bus they met on in New Zealand called the ‘Kiwi Experience’. Intense ruby in colour, this bottle opens with a lovely bouquet of forward fruit, soft notes of oak from the barrel fermentation, some anise and a hint of mocha. Ripe black fruit unfolds on the palate offering cassis, blackberry and black cherry. The finish is long and lingering with a smooth rich texture, it truly is an experience. If you are a fan of Huge Bear this may be your next favourite gem!
