This wine, made from Les and Lisa's latest grape acquisition from a spectacular vineyard on the edge of Howell Mountain, had been well underway before the name was inspired. June 8th, back in 2018, the day world-renowned chef and explorer of humanity Anthony Bourdain passed away, was a day of great solace for chefs and followers around the globe. Les and Lisa were deeply affected by his passing and named this new wine after Anthony's travel show, "Parts Unknown." It is a well-crafted blend of 30% Cabernet Franc, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 14% Syrah.

Leading down a woodsy path of tobacco, currants, and black raspberry, the nose is chock full of earthy aromas. The mouthfeel is plush yet juicy and bright with well-integrated tannins and flavors of tart cherry, dark fruit, and cassis, leading into a lingering finish of white pepper and blueberry. No doubt, Anthony Bourdain would have enjoyed this wine with some obscure dish he discovered during his global culinary travels. We, the less adventurous, suggest a braised short rib or mushroom risotto. Only 172 cases produced.

Try it with cider and sage roasted pork chops.

Behrens Family Winery is a boutique winery in the truest sense. Owned by Les Behrens and Lisa Drinkward, who've made wine under the Behrens & Hitchcock label since 1993, Behrens Family Winery produces small lots of six or seven wines a year at its winery perched high on top of Spring Mountain in Napa Valley. Each wine is a low tech labor of love: crushed into one-ton T-bins, punched down by hand, gently transferred to barrel, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. One only has to look at Les and Lisa's hands during harvest to know their wines are truly ?hand-crafted.? The couple also gravitates toward small, interesting and low-yielding vineyard sites, working with growers who they know, like and trust, and who are as obsessive about quality as they are. For Les and Lisa, it's all about letting the vineyards steal the show, and allowing the wines to speak for themselves.

Napa Valley is host to some of the most diverse soil series in the world. It also benefits from a rare Mediterranean climate. These ideal conditions along with daily fog settling in the valley from San Pablo bay are an equation resulting in complex Cabernet's, Chardonnay's and more.
